3 Days On The Road ~ Location: Luxembourg, Luxembourg ~ Transportation: Bus
On Wednesday 28th February we left Brussels and travelled to Luxembourg, and it was a very special day because it was Adam's birthday. When we were contemplating starting this adventure we wanted to make sure both of us got to celebrate our next birthday abroad, so he turned 28 while fulfilling his greatest dream! It doesn't get better than that. Our bus was at 13:40 from Brussels Midi South Station and we didn't use Flixbus this time, but Ouibus, because they had cheaper prices. We didn't offset our Co2 footprint for this journey of 136 miles, but what we intend to do is keep track of the tonnes value and when we get to Russia we will pay back all we own our wonderful planet through the initiatives on this site.
The bus ride was nice and comfortable, we got to see the beautiful countryside and the closer we got to our destination the more snow we saw on the road. While Adam was filming the snowy road he started chatting with a lovely guy from Ireland called Robbie and we immediately made friends. We exchanged contacts and planned to meet but we didn't manage to somehow. I am pretty sure we will meet him again out in the world.
Here you can watch the video about our time in Luxembourg:
Our itinerary included:
~ Central Station
~ Ouni Zero Waste Market
~ Luxemburgo-Passerelle
~ Cathédrale Notre-Dame
~ Place Guillaume II
~ Chamber of Deputies
~ Casemates du Bock
~ Musée National d'Histoire Et d'Art
Luxembourg really surprised me, it was much more beautiful than I expected. The temperature was really cold and I couldn't bare to stay outside for too long so we found a warm and cosy museum where we had the chance to feel our extremities again while also admiring some incredible pieces of modern, contemporary and baroque art.
Best Moment
There were so many incredible moments that I don't even know where to begin! From the spectacular view of the old town from above the bridge, to the museum, to the wonderful zero waste market, everything was breath-taking and just spectacular. But the best times were the ones shared with our hosts from Couchsurfing: Cyril, Jeanne and the little Rose! They welcomed us in their house as old friends, they went above and beyond to make us feel at home and we surely did. We cooked dinner together both nights we spent together, Jeanne made Adam a vegan chocolate cake for his birthday, we watched our videos and their holiday footage after dinner and just chatted about all the adventures we had and plan for the future. They truly made Luxembourg a unique and special experience for us.
Worst Moment
The countless times I couldn't feel my fingers for the cold, but that is really it! Everything else was just perfect.

Healthy Tips
We didn't have any problems, once again, finding healthy food for a great price. We are still working on our packed oats and seeds from London and that is what we have for breakfast everyday with some fresh fruit we buy locally. And the first night Jeanne prepared a lovely vegan curry with basmati rice, while I cooked a veggie stew with couscous the day afterwards. We also ate a lot of bread, hummus and olive pate.

Zero Waste Tips
We bought our food from a local Coop because all supermarkets have some unpackaged fruit and vegetables, as well as fresh bread from the bakery. This time we opted for fresh produce which unfortunately we had to weight on the scale and we collected 5 stickers to add to our Waste Jar. For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, we are "collecting" all the bits of trash we cannot Refuse, Reuse, Recover, Recycle or Rot (5 Rs of Zero Waste), and we are keeping them in a metaphorical jar so we can keep ourselves accountable and also once a week we can analyse what kind of waste we accumulate and how we can reduce it even further.
Minimalist Tips
The more the days pass the more I convince myself of the fact that I am carrying few unnecessary items and the minimalist in me is screaming to get rid of them. Even though the urge to purge is strong, I want to keep them a little longer because I want to be absolutely certain I can be without. The backpack itself is quite light, after the first few days you get used to carrying it.

Final warnings: get ready to fall in love with Luxembourg! This little country has so much charm and content, but definitely go in spring or summer, I can imagine being even more stunning.
